Transgender Persons Act (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2018: A Glimpse into the Legislative and Allied Processes

Written for NAZ – the only Pakistani organization working for the rights of LGBTQ, the methodology adopted for this project was a consultation meeting and a few telephonic interviews with the members of the community, who played a major role in the formulation of the final bill.

Written in collaboration between Talking Points Memo (TPM) members and journalism graduate students at NYU, we solicited the help of the community in TPM’s member forum, The Hive, to identify stories that could be of interest to TPM readers, but exist outside the range of TPM’s typical coverage areas. During the course of reporting, we shared their progress with members for feedback and input.

I co-created and co-host a cross-cultural podcast (and society's yelp review of everything) called The Sham with my colleagues Erin Mikail Fuss and Mayuri Mei Lin. The podcast is recorded in New York City.

Project 2250 with Financial Times

  • Created a user-testing lab for the Audience Engagement team at the FT

  • Conducted user-testing and research on FT’s US readers’ expectations and news-reading habits, that culminated in an extensive recommendations report

Acting gigs (side projects)

I have done a few acting gigs here and there, over the years. At my first full-time job (MangoBaaz), we created a lot of relatable visual content for Pakistani milleannials. I have also done branded videos, and a few voiceover projects.

Master's thesis - Her Case

Through my master's thesis, I addressed the lack of women's opinions in the mainstream media, in Pakistan. I surveyed and talked to over 70 women, developed and tested a few prototypes, and came up with the following recommendations.
