Sigh I genuinely don't know why this happened again but I deleted one of four repositories I have but everything went with it on my actual laptop. I was on github and was trying to update the site because for some reason only the very very beginning version was showing up. Everytime I connected the correct one to github it would say it was already a repository, and then would open up to the wrong one. I went to my recycle folder to check only to find I had completely lost everything. I used a program called recuva and waited two hours to try and get it back and I still could not find it. I checked every tutorial I could but this laptop has no backup.
I am just going to explain my process to the best of my memory.
Ok to start off I used https://github.com/Osaidddd/Parallax-scrolling as the referenced for my website. The Parallax scrolling was quite hard to figure out so this github project had a simple enough concept to use as a template. I started by creating flexboxes that had titles on it and when the mouse hovered over it, it would give specific background information regarding the dystopian time it took place in. The user eventually finds out that it is a letter from the one and only SIRPRINCESS-SCIENTIST JR^2. The next few scenes were like a slide show of images that showed the world state of the future.
I will admit I got frustrated with debugging towards the end, it was 4 am in the morning, and I was hopeless so I used chatgpt to find what was wrong with it and fix it for me. This solution would prove not be feasible the second time around.
My whole site what somewhat done and I was ready to present, I ended up doing a far more simple concept with only a few simple comic strip images flowing down. All I had to do was upload the code that used camera tracking to the website. My other p5.js which was a simple interactive quiz worked. But my really simple plant matching game didn't so I just scratched it. There is still an hour left so I don’t worry at the time. I go down to the 3rd floor ima lab and try to see whats wrong. As time continues the sketch is not showing up on the website. I had tried everything yet it wasn’t working. It was getting closer to classes time so I begin to panic. I walk around the room and ask around if anyone knew how to use visual studio code specifically. Two people had no idea, but one lovely lovely person had taken cclab before. She offered to help me and she began to look through my code. She checked her previous work as a reference and then checked mine and we both couldn’t figure out what was wrong. The canvas ID information was all correct and we couldn’t figure out what to change. We then changed one line and then another and then another, nothing changed, and then a few changes later and my whole project disappeared. It became a white screen with just some random text from here and there. We didn't realize why it turned blank and so we kept trying to fix things that we thought were right. After an hour, the both of us still can't figure out. My eyes start to burn I feel like I am about to sob because I know at this point presentations has begun. She reassures me that everything will be fine and that we will definitely figure it out together. We watched a few tutorials and still didn't know what to do
She then turned to the live site and showed me this really obvious but great way to debug. Instead of debugging in VS code we used the element inspect feature directly on the website. Debugging this way actually was so much more clearer and after 10 minutes we realized that in fixing little issues we made a really terrible and unnecessary mistake. We had opened the title and everyone became the title. I look at the lock 11:55, I hold my breath and hope that I will be able to present. After we got back to where we begun the girl had to go back to her meeting. Either way I'm incredibly grateful that she stayed to help for hours. However, that advice she gave me was priceless. From there I was able to find the specific instructions in the debug menu and eventually I was able to find the issue. I rest my laptop twice and it finally worked. I immediately ran to class, yet I was too late. This was quite the learning experience for me, sincerely I apologize for the amount of stress I put you under so many times. From the bottom of my heart I thank you for your unlimited kindness, patience, and dedication to being a great professor.
Now this one, I really dont know what happened I deleted one of the repositories and bam all of the other repositories became empty I cant find my original code for the life of me. https://github.com/limabeanbronchitis/thebloomafterdoomfinal
Like everything is gone gone. Like it even disappeared from the copies I made on my laptop.I had so many copies of it too because I was watching tutorials on how to republish a repository you unpublished because I thought that the code may update on github if I do that. I made like four copies because it said it was easier to remake the repository than to fix one and all of the folders are there just with no files really in it.
