The Digital Cinema Package (DCP) has become a key archival element of motion picture film since the shift from analogue to digital projection. Yet, information on its handling and preservation is few and far between. Hence, this online guide serves to be an introductory resource on the DCP for archivists where it aims to explain DCPs in a simple manner and to provide practical guidance for the unfamiliar.

Matthew is an audiovisual archivist and is currently pursuing his M.A. in Moving Image Archiving and Preservation at New York University.
