We have worked hard to keep the cost of the camp as low as possible, but there are still unavoidable expenses involved in delivering an event of this scale.
The District contribution per participant is shown below. In addition, each Group will need to account for the cost of catering within their sub-camp. This should be agreed by the Group Leadership Team and can either be added to the amount charged to young people, covered by Group funds, or offset through fundraising activities.
Squirrels - £10.00
Beavers - £35.00
Cubs - £55.00
Scouts - £55.00
Explorers - £55.00
Adults - No Charge
All paying members will be charged a £5.00 non-refundable deposit to be paid via groups by 30th November 2026.
The remaining balance will be due by 28th February 2027 (via groups).
Each Group will also be asked to provide catering for a small number of members of the Yedjam Event Team who will be based on their site during the camp. The numbers involved will be minimal and should be factored into the Group's catering budget. Numbers for these will be confirmed later in the year.
Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers are scheduled to arrive onsite between 18:00 and 19:00 on Friday 28th May. Adult Leaders should plan this for their groups prior to this point. Each group will have an arrival station near to the main gate, where they must check in all young people from their group. Members of the camp management team will be available throughout this period.
It is the groups' responsibility to check in all young members of their group. Parents will not be able to accompany their children to the subcamps, so please ensure that the young people can carry their own bags.
Given the single-track road, a traffic management plan will be in place throughout the evening. All vehicles will be received onto the site to drop off the young people between 18:00 and 19:00. NO VEHICLES WILL BE PERMITTED TO LEAVE SITE UNTIL ALL YOUNG PEOPLE ARE ACCOUNTED FOR, AND NOT BEFORE 19:00.
Squirrels Arrival
Squirrels arrive onsite at 08:00. A similar procedure will take place for arrival of the younger sections. Each group should be ready to receive these young people.
Again, vehicles will be held until all young people are fully accounted for.
Squirrel & Beaver Departure
Cars collecting Squirrels and Beavers will be invited onto the carpark from 18:00 as per the traffic management plan. Adult leaders should escort the Squirrels and Beavers to their group's collection point, where they will be collected at 19:00.
It is the groups' responsibility to ensure all young members of their group have been collected and left site safely.
Given the single-track road, a traffic management plan will be in place throughout the evening. All vehicles will be received onto the site to drop off the young people between 18:00 and 19:00. NO VEHICLES WILL BE PERMITTED TO LEAVE SITE UNTIL ALL YOUNG PEOPLE ARE ACCOUNTED FOR, AND NOT BEFORE 19:00
Following the closing ceremony, Groups will be responsible for taking their young people to their designated collection points near the main gates and ensuring that they are safely collected.
As with all other arrival and departure times, a traffic management plan will be in place with no vehicles to leave site until all young people are accounted for and ready to leave.
Cars will be invited onto the carpark from 12:00. Group members should escort their young people to their group's collection point for 13:00.
As previously, a traffic management plan will be in place and no vehicles will be allowed off site until all Cubs, Scouts and Explorers have been collected safely, which will be no earlier than 13:00.
Except for arrivals and departures, the site will be a car-free zone for the duration of the weekend, other than the designated carpark(s). All vehicles MUST have a parking permit displayed clearly in the windscreen for the duration of the stay. This will show the name of the driver, the group and a contact telephone number. In special circumstances (as agreed with the Camp Management Team), vehicles MAY be allowed onto site for stocking kitchen tents or water runs. In this event, vehicles must only drive on the designated track on the east of the site.
A small number of short stay visitors passes will be available for Groups who have parents (and similar) attending the camp to bring supplies or as part of a cooking rota. Please advise us in advance of any expected day visitors at yedjam@scarboroughscouts.org.uk, or book them onto the booking system directly as Day Visitors.
They must be booked in as day visitors.
There is no charge for these “Day visitor passes” and these individuals must be off site by 22:00.
Activity Zones will be the main daytime activties. These will be split into four zones: Adventure, Fun, Activity and Wet & Wild. Each Colour Zone will go to these zones on a rotation basis to ensure they are able to visit and take part in as much as possible.
Each activity zone will have a Zone Manager (See Yedjam Team), who will welcome each colour team to the zone and explain what is available.
It is expected that all leaders/helpers will assist in the running of each zone. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the zone manager. Requirements for each group will be circulated prior to the camp and will be in line with the number of adults attending the camp.
If there are insufficient numbers of adults to enable all activities to run, groups with stronger ratios may be asked to provide additional adult volunteers to support the programme.

Space will be relatively limited therefore Groups are asked to respect each other’s sites. Particularly during periods of free time.
Following flag break on Monday, all Groups are asked to ensure that their youngsters report to their colour meeting point in the main arena. From this point all youngsters will be briefed about the mornings activities which will NOT be taking place on the main camp field.
Youngsters are expected to where possible wear a white T-Shirt and clothes that they don’t mind getting dirty.
It is expected that during the colour war activity, there will opportunity for leaders and adult helpers to help begin dismantling their sites and preparing for departure later in the day.
