I am Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the New York Institute of Technology (New York Tech.), New York City Campus. I serve as the founding director of the New York Tech’s CoECS Undergraduate Research and Entrepreneurship Program (UREP), faculty mentor for the Society of Women Engineer NYIT student chapter. I am a senior member of the IEEE Communications Society, IEEE Women in Engineering, and a member of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), ACM, and the Environmental Sensing, Networking and Decision-Making (ESND) technical committee. I hold a Ph.D. and an M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology. My research interests include the architecture design and analysis of high-performance packet switches, network security and forensics, wireless sensor networks, cloud data center networks, assistive medical devices and data analytics and innovative sensing technology to improve sustainability and resilience of both natural and built environment. My research is supported by the National Science Foundation, Northrop Grumman, Motorola Solutions, National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance, and Xilinx. I am a recipient of the 2006 and 2007 Hashimoto Fellowship for outstanding scholarship, the 2008 Hashimoto Prize for the best Ph.D. dissertation in electrical engineering at NJIT, the New Jersey Inventors Hall of Fame Graduate Student Award for her inventions in network switches, the NYIT Presidential Engagement Award in Student Engagement in Research and Scholarship, and 2020 ASEE Curtis W. McGraw Research Award.
