What is S.T.E.A.M?

What is your child’s new class STEAM all about? S.T.E.A.M., which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math, is a new and exciting class your child attends every three days. Lessons are focused around the 4 C’s: Creativity and Innovation, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Communication, and Collaboration, skills which have been identified as essential for the modern 21st century world and workplace. Floyd students are presented with problems called challenges and they must engage their bodies and minds to solve these using skills such as scientific inquiry, computer programming or engineering designs. Learning from mistakes and having a positive mindset to keep trying are also emphasized throughout lessons. Check back here for updates on the amazing learning and creating happening in STEAM class.

The goal of STEAM at Floyd is to create children and then adults who can think for themselves to solve problems and use their creativity to make the world a better place.
