2022 Susan B. Anthony Scholarship Opportunities
The Jackson Women’s History Council offers four $250 Susan B. Anthony scholarships to eligible students in Jackson County each year. Two scholarships will be awarded to high school students and two to college students. For each level, there are two categories: Word and Image.
All entries should address the theme for the 2022 National Women’s History Month, “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope.” The theme is both a tribute to the ceaseless work of caregivers and frontline workers during this ongoing pandemic and also a recognition of the thousands of ways that women of all cultures have provided both healing and hope throughout history.
Word Entries may be in the form of an essay, historical fiction, poem, play, or song lyrics.

Image Entries may be in the form of a two- dimensional artwork(painting, drawing, photograph, video, cartoon) or a three-dimensional artwork in any medium (maximum size 36”).

Scholarship Rules:
Entries must include the applicant’s name, contact information, and school and/or teacher.
Entries will be judged on evidence of research, originality, and the most elegant creative expression of the theme.
Art entries must indicate whether and where the work is to be returned.
All entries must be labeled “Susan B Anthony Scholarship.”
The deadline is Monday, February21, 2022.
The recipients are invited to present their work and receive their scholarships at the annual Susan B. Anthony Awards Celebration on Sunday, March 13, 2022, 3-5pm.
Sallie Mae Fund Scholarships
To help first-generation, low-income, and minority students access and complete college, The Sallie Mae Fund, the charitable arm of Sallie Mae®, has again partnered with Thurgood Marshall College Fund to offer scholarships through its Bridging the Dream Scholarship Program.
Who is eligible and how to apply:•
The Bridging the Dream Scholarship for High School Seniors: The Sallie Mae Fund will award (25) $10,000 scholarships to high school seniors who plan to enroll in a two- or four-year degree professional certificate, or vocational training program. Seniors who excel inside and outside of the classroom and demonstrate financial need can apply NOW through Feb. 28 at www.salliemae.com/landing/bridging-the-dream.•
The Completing the Dream Scholarship: The Sallie Mae Fund will award (185) gap scholarships worth up to $2,500 each to minority students and those from underserved communities who are on track to graduate but are at-risk of not completing due to financial emergency or unpaid school bill. Paying for college is one of the biggest hurdles a student faces. Northwood University has many resources available to help:
NU offers generous Merit scholarships for students who have a 2.7 or higher GPA.
Winners of The Naegele Competitive Scholarship could be awarded up to an additional $40,000 over four years – the deadline to enter is January 9th, 2022.
High school students who participate in DECA, BPA, HOSA, VEI, JA, FCCLA, FBLA, and Skills USA are eligible for the NU Business Club Scholarship (2.5 minimum GPA required).
Students who complete the FAFSA may be eligible for the Michigan Tuition Grant and the NU Grant.

michigan gem and mineral society- SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
This scholarship is open to graduating seniors from Jackson County (and bordering counties) High Schools, and the funds must be used for post high school education. For the 2021 - 2022 school year, there are two (2) - $750.00 scholarships for the study in the areas of Earth Sciences and Lapidary Arts, Membership in the MGMS is encouraged, but not required.

Gordon will Optimist- SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The Optimist Club of Jackson is pleased to announce the continuation of the Optimist Club Gordon Will Opportunity Scholarship which has been awarded to deserving graduating seniors from Jackson County since 2002. The scholarship amounts range from $500.00 - $2,000.00, depending on the funds available. The checks will be presented to the selected students at a luncheon held in the student's honor in May. 2022. The checks will be made out to the student's choice of college/university for the benefit of the selected student.
The application is also available online at optimisticearena.com. The completed application may be submitted online to phil.augustine@gmail.com or mailed and/or dropped off to the Optimist Ice Arena - 1300 West North Street - Jackson, MI. 49202. The submission deadline is January 31, 2022.

For those applying to the Matthew and Joshua Opppenheim scholarship AND the North Jackson Lions Scholarship-they have requested PAPER copies for both scholarships. You can fill out the google doc but must print out the paper copy (guidance can help you with this if needed). Your transcript must be turned in with your biography and app to the guidance office by APRIL 22! The Lions scholarship must also be turned in as a paper copy to the guidance office.
