ART & ARTIST RULES

  • Art created must be culturally sensitive and appropriate, respecting the diversity promoted in our festival, artists and community.

  • School representatives reserves the right to refuse, stop or eliminate objectionable art or art not consistent with Chalkfest guidelines.

  • The event will go on rain or shine. The artists are responsible for protecting their chalk art. Plastic drapes, tape, tents or canopies can be used as needed.

HELPFUL HINTS

  • Use chalk sparingly.

  • Build up your layers, starting with a very light layer on the bottom. Some artist prefer to lay all of their undertones first. Some prefer to work top to bottom.

  • We recommend outlining all of your major elements first. A big chalkboard eraser works great for laying down large areas of color. Moving the eraser in a circular motion works best.

  • Using blankets, chair, and/or knee pads to stay comfy while you draw.
