Band Association

The Association was established with the purpose of providing guidance, administrative functions, and financial support to the Northwestern Bands and all their activities. All parents of band students in grades 7-12 are automatically members of the Northwestern Band Association and are therefore welcome to attend the monthly meetings. Meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:00pm in the Jr./Sr. High Band Room.

Each year, the Association provides the band with financial support allowing band members to participate in band activities at very little personal cost. It is imperative that students, parents, and family members participate in all avenues of raising funds they are able so we may continue to provide financial support to the band.

Every band member benefits from the money raised by the Association!

Signing Up to Volunteer

We use a web-based sign-up system to gather and keep track of our volunteers. The service is completely FREE! You do not need to become a member of the service, but you will need to enter your name and e-mail so we know who has signed up. The system takes a little getting used to, but is very user friendly. We often use it to send e-mail alerts informing you of volunteer needs. You can then sign up through the link in your e-mail. If you no longer wish to receive the alerts and would rather come through this website to sign up, simply click the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of your e-mail.

To sign up to work Concessions or other Volunteer needs:

  1. Click here: SignUpGenius.
  2. Scroll to the very bottom and click "Find a Sign Up".
  3. Search by the Creator's email (mitchelln@nwlschools.org).
  4. Choose the event you want.
  5. Click "Sign Up" in the areas you can help and then "Submit and Sign Up" at the bottom.
  6. You do not have to become a SignUpGenius member, but you will need to enter your name and email so we know who has signed up.

Background Checks

FBI Background checks are required to be on file with the school district any time you will be working with students, whether working alongside students in the Concession Stand or chaperoning students on a bus. Please contact the Board Office to obtain the proper paperwork necessary to begin this process.

Concession Stand

The band parents are responsible for “manning” the Concession Stand during home Football, Boys & Girls Soccer, Track, and Boys Basketball games. We need 3-5 parents to work for each home game/meet, except for Varsity Football which requires 12 volunteers!

Working the Concessions Stand is a long-standing and fun Warrior Band tradition. We promise you will have a good time!

Traveling Chaperones

Band parents are responsible for chaperoning each of the busses traveling to and from each event, including away football games and band contests. A minimum of 2 volunteers per bus, except buses with a certified teacher on board, is needed for each trip. Each chaperone will receive free admission into the attending event. There will be some light lifting, mentoring the youth of today, and a lot of monitoring activities!
