Rule Reminders and Tips
Times to ring in: Rounds 1 and Round 2- 5 seconds (10 seconds for calculation questions), Round 3- 3 seconds (10 seconds for calculation questions)
Wait to be called on before answering.
The team captain must sit in the center chair during the Bonus Round.
If a team does not have 5 players, consider matching their number of players.
The first answer counts, so if the wrong answer is given, don’t correct it! (Doing so will give the other team the advantage.)
If the other team rings in and misses, wait to hear the entire question before ringing in.
Give answers loud and clear.
Calculation question answers need to be given with any necessary unit notation: degrees, square feet, etc. Answers also need to be in the lowest common denominator.
First names are required when the answer is a famous last name with more than one well-known person who shares the last name.
When a monarch is the answer, the appropriate number must be given.
Coaches must wait until the end of a round to present a challenge. Only the coach may challenge.
All calculation questions in Round 1 and Round 2 are repeated.

What is JV Quiz?
JV Quiz is a game show style showcase of junior high student knowledge, much like Jeopardy! is for adults. The team practices on campus with the advisor in the months leading up to virtual league matches, which begin in February. The districtwide tournament is traditionally held in March. Final rounds are recorded at Vegas PBS with host Nate Tannenbaum and televised. CLICK HERE to watch Greenspun face off with Becker MS in the 2022 Finals!

Coaches and all JVQ student participants must read and acknowledge the CCSD JV Quiz Code of Ethics by signing the document before participating in the district tournament. This document must be reviewed and signed with the advisor during one of the team meetings prior to the tournament.
CCSD Media Release (form 588):
All students participating in JVQ must have parent/guardian media release permission to be filmed for the tournament. Parents typically already made this selection when registering their child for the school year on Infinite Campus, but if the parent elected to not allow their child to be filmed, they must re-submit the paper form with consent to be filmed.
