REPRO 110 : Uterus - Endometriosis

CASE HISTORY

The present specimen was an incidental finding in a woman who died of mitral stenosis. There was nothing in her history to suggest pelvic disease.

PATHOLOGY

The specimen consists of the internal genitalia viewed from behind. The uterus and vagina show no abnormality. The left tube is normal and the left ovary contains a very early corpus luteum. In the left broad ligament there is a small fibromyoma. The right ovary is normal. The right tube shows swelling and nodularity extending from the cornu out over a length of about 3cm. The appearances strongly suggest salpingitis isthmica nodosa.
