PATHOLOGY

The specimen consists of the upper half of the cerebellum sectioned through the middle of the pons. On the cut surface in the right half posteriorly there is an irregular oval mass about 1.5" x 0.5" with a smooth caseous surface, which is partly stained with haemorrhage. It is quite clearly demarcated from the surrounding tissue, and extends upwards so that it can be seen on the superior cerebellar surface. The mass has been produced a striking asymmetry of the cerebellum. The right half is notably larger and bulging posteriorly.
