CASE HISTORY

The specimen consists of the stomach, with the anterior wall removed, oesophagus and spleen. The stomach is markedly contracted having a total length of 4" and greatest diameter 2". The entire wall of infiltrated with hard fibrous tumour from cardia to pylorus. The tumour has produced considerable thickening of the stomach wall, especially at the cardiac end, where on the peritoneal surface there is a collar of firm white tumour. The tumour ceases abruptly at the pylorus. The muscle coat can be seen as a dark line becoming less prominent towards the cardiac end. The oesophagus is dilated, the lumen being of similar size to the stomach.
