CR27: Internal iliac artery - Aneurysm
CASE HISTORY
This specimen was an incidental finding in a case of myelosclerosis. It had not caused any signs or symptoms.
PATHOLOGY
The specimen consists of the posterior half of the lower aorta, common iliac, internal iliac and external iliac arteries. In the proximal part of the right internal artery there is a fusiform aneurysm 5 x 3 x 3cms. Part of its lumen is occupied by clot. The wall of the aneurism is thick and is partly calcified. The adjacent arteries all show severe calcareous atheroma but are free from any sign of syphilis.
