At Digital Learning, we are constantly exploring innovative ways to enrich the student learning experience. We leverage immersive technologies, such as games, simulations, and interactive tools to create engaging, hands-on learning environments. These methods not only make learning more enjoyable, but also enhance understanding and retention by allowing students to apply concepts in realistic, virtual scenarios. Here are some of the projects we've developed using immersive technologies: 

1. VR Training for High-Risk Environments

Working in a Biosafety-Lab 3 (BSL-3) environment requires stringent measures to protect one's safety and health while researching highly infectious bacteria and viruses. LKCMedicine Digital Leaming Team worked with virologist A/Prof Tan Boon Huan to develop a comprehenive Virtual Reality application which allows trainees to effectively familiarise with the BSL-3 environment and facility operating procedures. You will get to experience an extracted segment of the VR application which focuses on donning an isolation gown.

2. Anatomy AR/VR APP

This app is available on the iPad by invitation only. The app allows you to view realistic 3D anatomical models on the iPad. It also has a feature to display 3D popup model by scanning the AR marker. This is an alpha version, which means that it is functional but can be buggy and the user interface can be improved. We are still working on it. Please send us any comments for improvement.

3. Walk the Plank
 
Digital Learning created a VR vertigo game for our colleagues to experience virtual reality in a multi-dimensional way.  With the VR headset, the player will immerse in a visual, auditory and somatosensory environment. The experience challenges some of them to rediscover themselves or even learn some metacognitive skills to better tell what is real and what is virtual reality.  

Digital Learning produced a fun video to capture the footage of the experience. This VR game is also supported by our talented interns who work tirelessly with our staff to make this possible.
