Shelton with Hardwick Community School
Welcome to our school.
Shelton with Hardwick Community School, built in 1851, is a rural co-educational Primary School catering for children from the age of 4 to 11 years. We are federated with Hempnall Primary; the two schools work together for the benefit of all pupils.
Being a successful small school we are lucky enough to be able to provide mixed age and mixed ability teaching throughout the school.
The teaching areas consist of a classroom used by the Early Years and Key Stage 1 children (reception to year 2), a classroom used by the Key Stage 2 children (year 3 to Year 6) and a library that can also be used as a quiet space for individuals and small groups. Each classroom has access to computers and an interactive smart board. The teaching here is exciting and our pupils are wonderful, especially in their attitude to their learning and what they bring to our school. We also have a Thrive room which supports pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
We are fortunate to have a superb playing field with adventure playground equipment, funded by our amazing Parents’ group called FOSS, and space for athletics and team sports. We also have a delightful conservation area and outdoor classroom which we use for outdoor education, learning about our environment and exploring nature. We also enable every child to take part in Forest Schools sessions regularly with a Forest School leader.
There is an outside classroom for use during school and break times. We have also a small garden and planters enhancing the playground provided by a former pupil’s estate.
Most Fridays we hold a Family Assembly, we encourage parents to join us to celebrate achievements, certificates from home and birthdays (children’s and parents!) We welcome families at 9:00am so we can start with a celebration of the work and lives of our brilliant children!
