History helps pupils to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time.

Pupils receive a broad and balanced history curriculum focusing on inspiring them to be curious about the world around them.

History at both schools is often accessed through imaginative inquiry; for example, using Mantle of the Expert.

Skills Ladder

Here is the skills ladder that children will be assessed against in each year.

Children will be judged at each year to be either:

  • Beginning
  • Developing
  • Embedded
  • Master

For example, Year 5 Developing



How to help your child at home:

  • Visit National Trust sites
  • Go to the Castle Museum at Norwich
  • Encourage them to read historical fiction
