More Traveling Around New York State












Jan. 17, 2020 - Two postcards came from eastern NY today. A wooden postcard arrived for Madalyn from Saratoga Springs, N.Y.! This area, north of our Capitol, played an important role during the Revolutionary War.

Jan. 17, 2020 - A second postcard shows Lake George - home of Fort William Henry. This was the site of many battles during the French & Indian War, where France fought the British for control of the new colonies, both sides being assisted by local Native Americans in the area.

Jan. 17, 2020 - Joe's postcard comes from the harbor of Port Jefferson, NY, located on the north shore of Long Island. It is our second postcard from this area of NYS!

Jan. 29, 2020 - Lily's postcard arrives from the Buffalo, NY area of East Aurora where "America’s Arts and Crafts movement began over a century ago". Former President Millard Filmore also lived here before becoming the 13th President of the United States of America! Check out the link above to learn about the interesting history of Vidler's!

Feb. 5, 2020 - Another postcard from Long Island! This one arrived for Joe from Bay Shore, LI. By Shore is home to Entemanns Bakery (YUMMY!), Robert Moses State Park and the famous Fire Island Lighthouse!

Feb. 6, 2020 - Jack received a postcard from Randolph, New York in the southwest corner of New York State. This area is located on a plateau about an hour south of Buffalo where the geography is perfect for ski resorts. Many Amish people have settled in the area where they work their farms and sell their products at local markets. The Amish are also known for their building skills!

Feb. 26, 2020 - Lily received a postcard from Albany. This cute BIG guy sits on a building in the Albany area! He is considered the World's Largest Man-Made dog at 28ft tall!

Feb. 26, 2020 - Grady received a postcard from the Ithaca area. This is a scene from the campus of Ithaca College! Notice Cayuga Lake in the background, which is one of the Finger Lakes found in New York State!
