English Language Development

Welcome to the Mary Finn School English Language Development webpage! My name is Mrs. Johnson, and I have been teaching here at the Mary Finn School for nine years. Before coming to Southborough, I taught a first grade bilingual class in Framingham and later homeschooled my three sons. I received a Bachelor's Degree from the State University of New York at Potsdam and a Master's Degree from the State University of New York at Albany. I love working with the students here at Finn, watching their English language skills grow and develop during their Kindergarten and first grade years. When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling with my husband Steve to visit our adult children, reading, and taking long walks.

Hello! My name is Mrs Begnami and I am an English Language Development teacher for the Southborough Public School District. I currently teach at both the Mary Finn and Margaret Neary schools. I received my Bachelor in Language Arts from Rhode Island College and completed the Post-Baccalaureate Teaching Licensure Program at Framingham State University. I am currently pursuing my Master's of Education with Specialization in Teaching English as a Second Language. When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling with my family, reading a book and playing my guitar.

The English Language Development (ELD) program provides cultural awareness as well as direct instruction in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English for students to successfully reach grade level standards.
