Hi, I’m Kristen Perry, the special education teacher for the Middle PACE program at LBMS!
Middle PACE is an amazing, specialized program where we focus on Personalized Academics and Community Experiences. Our classroom serves students in grades 6–8, providing small group and individualized instruction to build skills in academics, adaptive behavior, daily living, social interactions, and communication.
We work on academic goals, life skills, pre-vocational tasks, and community-based experiences to help prepare students for a future of independence—at school, at home, and in their communities!
KEY GOALS OF OUR PROGRAM
Our goal is to help students build practical academic, communication, social, and life skills so they can use them independently at school and in the community. We also focus on teaching daily living essentials like hygiene, health, and cooking while encouraging positive social behavior.
We use a strengths-based model to discuss academic development and integration of skills with the goal of students’ increasing independence.
SERVICES WE OFFER
We tailor our services to meet each student's unique needs.
Our modified Health class covers nutrition, hygiene, body systems, fitness, growth, puberty, and relationships—all designed for students’ developmental levels.
COLLABORATION AND COMMUNICATION
Our team— consisting of the special education teacher, instructional assistant(s), behavior analyst, and various therapists (occupational, speech, physical)—meets weekly to focus on students' strengths and work toward their independence.
We value parent/guardian input and maintain regular communication throughout the year to share progress and provide support.
BEST BUDDIES
We are the hosts of the Best Buddies Club!
