Physical Education

Welcome!

Physical activity and sports have always been an important part of my life, and I love sharing that passion with others.  I grew up on the shores of Lake Erie in Mentor, Ohio playing a lot of sports (hockey, soccer, baseball, and freestyle BMX), but focused on ice hockey once I attended high school. Upon graduating from Mentor High School, I pursued a career in hockey playing in the North American Hockey League.  Once my playing career ended, I began my coaching career.  I have coached mites through junior level teams.  In 2009, I was inducted in Mentor High Schools Sports Hall of Fame. I Currently am a hockey skills coach at Elev802 Boston in Andover, MA.

In my spare time, I love to cook and grill.  During the summer, my family and I usually travel to the Western part of North America.  We especially love Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and Western Canada.

P.E. Overview

The focus of our department lessons are founded in cooperation, staying active, being respectful, displaying empathy, and self-control.  The outcome of a game or activity is not the primary goal for students.  Rather students will need to work together to accomplish a goal.  Even if the desired outcome is not achieved, the lessons learned through cooperating with other students is what matters most.  Playing fairly and following rules is of utmost importance.  Teaching students to have the necessary self-control to play fairly is an important aspect of physical education.  Encouraging students to try their best is essential to the growth and development of student skills and self-confidence.  Students are not expected to be the best, but to try their best.
