Welcome! My name is Claire Brunelle and I teach 6th grade ELA. This year in ELA, we'll explore exciting subjects, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and work together to achieve academic goals. At LBMS, we believe that learning is a collaborative process, and we are here to support our students every step of the way.

Class Overview
READING: Students will read a variety of both fiction and non-fiction texts. Our texts will be read and discussed in the Reader’s Workshop and Literature Circle formats.
WRITING: Students will engage with writing through a variety of formats, including quick writes, writing about reading, and lengthier pieces that will go through the writing process. Students will work on narrative, informative, and argument writing assignments. Again, students will be working in the Writer’s Workshop format.
VOCABULARY and MECHANICS: Students will be learning new vocabulary through their reading as well as through our shared texts. Grammar and mechanics will be taught through "sentence stalking."
