The mobile polar plunge is a fundraiser event that brings a portable swimming pool to our school. Participants jump into cold water in order to support Massachusetts Special Olympics, which is what brings us things like our very successful Unified Sports program! The last time our school participated in this fundraiser we raised almost $16,000 dollars, setting a state record for participating schools and hope to break this record this upcoming December!
In 2023, "North Reading High School was the first school in Massachusetts to sign on and participate in Special Olympics MA’s mobile plunge with Bear Force One—a fully equipped mobile plunge pool that can hold up to 2,800 gallons of water. More than 150 staff and students took the plunge on Friday, December 15th and proved what being a Unified Champion School means."
