All fourth and fifth grade students have the opportunity to get more involved in school music by joining the chorus. In general, students who join chorus will have a great deal of fun. More specifically however, chorus provides students the opportunity for growth in many educational areas. Such areas include: building on their musical knowledge, social skills, and their sense of teamwork. Members will also proudly display their talents to their parents and peers at our winter and spring concerts, as well as, a special all-town concert which includes choruses from each school here in North Reading.
The Little School Chorus is open to all interested fourth and fifth grade students. Chorus is being offered during the school day, and will meet every WEDNESDAY morning from 8:15-9:00. We will be performing in at least three -concert throughout the year (Winter, All-Town Chorus, and Arts Night) . There are no fees for joining chorus. Students are asked to have a 3-ring binder with 15-25 clear plastic sheet protectors to hold their music.
What does it take to be a chorus member? COMMITMENT! Just as practice is important for sports, so it is with music. The success of the chorus as a whole relies on the commitment of each team member. Chorus runs in a semester format- Fall/Winter and Winter/Spring. Once you register you've made a commitment to the semester, If you choose not to continue, you can drop (or add) in the next semester. So, before you sign the permission slip, please discuss with your child the importance of making this commitment to rehearsals and the chorus. Chorus is not a social hour, rather a time for work and music.
