AP Physics C
Mechanics/Electricity & Magnetism
AP Physics C General Outline
In AP Physics C we tackle the typical first year of university calculus-based physics for science and engineering majors. This class comprises both calculus-based AP Physics curricula -- "Mechanics" and "Electricity & Magnetism." The exams have been redesigned for this year, and for the first time both exams will be three (3) hours in length. Each exam consists of 40 multiple choice questions (80 minutes) and 4 free-response problems (100 minutes). The Mechanics exam will be administered on Wednesday May 14 (afternoon) and the Electricity & Magnetism exam will be administered on Thursday May 15 (afternoon).
The areas of study include the following:
Mechanics
Kinematics
Force and Translational Dynamics
Work, Energy, and Power
Linear Momentum
Torque and Rotational Dynamics
Energy and Momentum of Rotating Systems
Oscillations
Electricity & Magnetism
Electric Charges, Fields, and Gauss's Law
Electric Potential
Conductors and Capacitors
Electric Circuits
Magnetic Fields and Electromagnetism
Electromagnetic Induction
