A Holistic Approach to Teaching and Learning

Wellness Education is a comprehensive program integrating physical education, health, and fitness principles. Utilizing the state and national standards for physical education and health, students learn the concepts and skills to help make positive choices in their lives. As educators, we provide our students with a variety of tools to lead healthy and active lifestyles.

Wellness Department Guidelines

  • All students are required to dress appropriately for physical activity with a change of clothing and appropriate footwear (Refer to the student handbook guidelines for dress code).
  • Students will take one semester of Wellness per year. Exceptions include students needing to fulfill graduation requirements due to transfer or medical exemption.
  • Students who are medically excused for an extended period of time must provide a physician's note to the school nurse.
  • Alternative activities or assignments will be provided for any student who is excused by a physician from certain types of physical activity.
  • Students participating in Wellness classes will receive a daily grade that is aligned to national and state physical education/health standards.
