WELCOME TO THE NORTH PENN HIGH SCHOOL ART DEPARTMENT

The Visual Arts are an integral component of a well-rounded education. As a form of communication found within all cultures, the arts allow for the expression of feelings and thoughts unable to be expressed solely in words or numbers. Visual Arts provide students with opportunities to develop creative problem solving capacities, abilities to refine critical and analytical thinking skills, and environments to foster self-expression. Art is a universal language, which promotes individual identity to define, record and celebrate the history of humankind.

The Visual Arts:

  • develop keen observation skills

  • nurture a visual culture

  • create meaning

  • provide a concrete record of the history of civilization

  • make connections globally to the exploration of self

  • provide the growth of right and left brain cognition

  • develop motor and spatial skills

THE "KNIGHT OF THE ARTS" K-12 ART SHOW IS BACK!

The North Penn Knight of the Arts, featuring artwork created by students from K-12, is back in person for 2022! It opens to the public on Wednesday, May 25, and Thursday, May 26, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The Knight of the Arts is an impressive event that features a multitude of media, including painting, photography, sculpture, computer animation, and more. Students will demonstrate their artistic skills, such as drawing, painting, carving, computer animation, graphic design, digital photography, and throwing on the potter’s wheel, during the show.

The Knight of the Arts also includes Senior Walls, which feature artwork created by seniors who have taken three or more art classes throughout their high school years, showing their dedication to the visual arts. It includes a reception for these seniors, their families, and friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the art pod of North Penn High School.

Additionally, the high school Fashion Show will display many creative designs from the FCS department, and musical performances from several district schools will perform in the evenings to delight your auditory as well as visual senses.

Donations to benefit the Senior Art Scholarship Fund are welcome and appreciated. The scholarship is awarded to several seniors who will be pursuing art in college. Donations will be accepted at the Art Show. T-shirts with a student-designed art show logo will be available for purchase. Click here to see the t-shirt design. The show will also offer interactive activities such as face painting and a photo booth for fun picture taking. All proceeds from these events and sales will benefit the art scholarship. Additionally, you may opt to send a check made payable to NPHS Art Scholarship Fund via the district courier or mail to ATTN: Mike Werner, 1340 Valley Forge Rd., Lansdale, PA 19446. Please consider donating to this worthy cause.
