WELCOME TO THE NORTH PENN HIGH SCHOOL ART DEPARTMENT
The Visual Arts are an integral component of a well-rounded education. As a form of communication found within all cultures, the arts allow for the expression of feelings and thoughts unable to be expressed solely in words or numbers. Visual Arts provide students with opportunities to develop creative problem solving capacities, abilities to refine critical and analytical thinking skills, and environments to foster self-expression. Art is a universal language, which promotes individual identity to define, record and celebrate the history of humankind.
The Visual Arts:
develop keen observation skills
nurture a visual culture
create meaning
provide a concrete record of the history of civilization
make connections globally to the exploration of self
provide the growth of right and left brain cognition
develop motor and spatial skills

"KNIGHT OF THE ARTS"
MAY 22 & 23 • 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM • NORTH PENN HIGH SCHOOL
North Penn School District will be holding the Knight of the Arts on Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 23 from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm at North Penn High School. Knight of the Arts is a K-12 art show featuring a multitude of media, including drawing, painting, digital photography, sculpture, computer animation, graphic design, and more.
Students will demonstrate their artistic skills live, such as drawing, painting, carving, throwing on the potter’s wheel, digital demonstrations, and more throughout the show. Additionally, the high school Fashion Show will display many creative designs from the Family Consumer Sciences (FCS) department, and musical performances from several schools to delight your auditory and visual senses. The show will also offer interactive activities, including face painting, portrait drawing, and a photo booth.
The Knight of the Arts also includes Senior/AP Walls, which feature artworks created by seniors and AP Studio Art students who have taken three or more art classes during their time at North Penn High School to honor their dedication to the visual arts. These students, along with their family and friends, will be honored at a reception on May 22 from 6-6:30 pm in the art pod of North Penn High School.
Donations to benefit the Senior Art Scholarship are welcome and appreciated. The scholarship is awarded to several seniors who will be pursuing art in colleges. Donations will be accepted during the Art Show. T-shirts with a student-designed art show logo will be available for purchase. Click HERE to view last years design. All proceeds from these sales and the event will benefit the art scholarship.
The public is invited to join students for the Knight of the Arts on May 22 and 23 from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm at North Penn High School, 1340 Valley Forge Road, Lansdale PA.
