Participants in the Oral Presentation category are standing between Aga Gabor da Silva (OSL) and Dr. David Cox (Skeen Library Director): Ahmad, Victor, Nipuni, Racha, Darion, Malik, and Hasan—their abstracts made the top seven. Their presentations were informative, engaging and brought quite a few questions from the audience.

3-Minute Speech Competition took place the next day, i.e., on Wednesday, April 23, in the Tripp Room. Darien Williams, a graduate (and graduating) student in Mechanical Engineering, is giving a presentation titled "Supersonic Birds of a Future Feather," which got him first place in the competition!
Mahsa Soroori Khosroshahi, also a graduate student in the Mechanical Engineering Department, is discussing "Geodesic Path Planning on Mars." Mahsa was poised and professional and managed to explain her research in less than 3 minutes.
Aarron Adoberavoski, an undergraduate student who works with Dr. Cadol in the Earth & Environmental Science Department, talked about a very important and relevant to us all problem, namely, water scarcity in New Mexico. It was Aarron's first speech competition and we think that his presentation was outstanding.
Joel, a graduate student in Mechanical Engineering, is being "interrogated" by Dr. Dotson, Provost Jackson, and Dr. Hassanalian. What can we say—exciting!

GSA Poster Competition continued: Preston (Computer Science) and Jakobe (Mechanical Engineering) are giving a spiel to their listeners. Dr. Patidar, in the foreground, should feel lucky since two of his graduate students, Rana and Miti, came first and second, respectively, in the GSA competition!
Poster Session 1 brought 22 posters and a few large groups of presenters. One of the evaluators in this session was Anna Gilletly, Associate Dean from Central NM Community College, in the photo talking to Cole (082). Both Cole and Devin (083) work with Dr. Mier in the Mechanical Engineering Department and their SRS projects dealt with Schlieren imaging.
Zohrab is a graduate student in the Mechanical Engineering Department and seemed very happy to be presenting at the SRS! Behind him are the high school students from Magdalena who come each year to present their Teen Science Cafe projects, advised by Jim Sauer and Dr. Sonnenfeld.
Poster Session 2. Amin, an undergraduate student in Computer Science, is talking about AI Ethics & Biases with Dr. Richardson from Civil Engineering. Amin is one of the participants in the Sophomore Research Program. Anthony (smiling), an aspiring hydrologist, discussed water scarcity in Bosque del Apache.
Zayden and Elijah are giving a spiel about NASA'S H2O Radiometer for Planetary Exploration to Rebecca, a graduate student and one of the evaluators in Poster Session 2. In the background Will Clattenburg from the CLASS Department is diligently making notes, most probably on the poster he has just evaluated.
Kiane Pound from Auxiliary Services was one of the evaluators in Poster Session 3. Here she's talking to Jacqueline, a graduate student in Petroleum Engineering, whose project deals with numerical modeling of granite in the St. John's Dome Basement.

Just like year, the Mechanical Engineering showcase took to the lawn in front of Skeen Library.
