Lindsy Wallace
I have been on staff with InnerChange since 2014, serving as the Communications Director since 2019, and am part of the newly forming Equity + Justice Service Team. As Communications Director I oversee both the internal and external communication of InnerChange's mission of cultivating followers of Jesus at the margins. In this capacity, I serve the 20 InnerChange teams around the world, stewarding their sacred stories with compassion and enthusiasm.
I live in the Shawnee neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, where the median household income is less than $20,000 a year. As an outsider, I spend a lot of time listening to my neighbors' bad news (and good news too!), to gain the relational trust and cultural awareness necessary to come alongside them in solidarity and authentically share Good News.
I am honored to serve the Decode Project, working towards equity in education primarily through grant-writing and supporting the executive director so that our programs for BIPOC and low-income students with learning differences remain accessible.
I volunteer with a grassroots group of organizers working towards a Louisville where everyone has what they need to thrive and is safe from police violence. Our niche is calling for transparency and accountability within the police union contracts. Not glamorous, but very important as it directly impacts my neighbors' lives!
I serve on the Board of Directors for a newly forming non-profit self-directed education center. The center will strive to be accessible to all students whose educational needs are not met by a traditional school. I am excited about this opportunity and what it will mean for young people in Louisville, especially those our education system leaves behind.
In each of these settings, I engage my colleagues with God’s love for everyone, particularly the marginalized. It’s an opportunity that feels meaningful and unique to my chosen social location. It’s an honor to call out the imago Dei in both my neighbors and the police, for example, and is a real conversation starter!
