School Governance Council
What is the School Governance Council?
The School Governance Council is an advocacy group, made up of Parents, Teachers and Community Members. Their main focus is on the improvement of our school, by making recommendations, and voting on operational changes to enhance the quality of life, and achievement of the students within our learning community.
All schools in the Norwalk Public School system maintain school-based governance councils to guide the schools’ development. The Board believes that the success of the school and the students it serves is the shared responsibility of school staff, parents or legal guardians and community members.
Parent council members are elected each year by our entire parent community. Elected members serve a 2 year term, and can serve a maximum of 2 terms on the council. SGC meetings are held once a month, in the evening, between September and June.
