Middle School Math Department

Welcome to the Middle School Math department page. Here you can find information pertaining to the department. If there is something that you would like to see here feel free to email mtaylor@norton.k12.ma.us with your ideas.

Most students at the Middle school will take the same path but a small few may take the advanced path. No Matter which path is taken, every student will be able to take AP math classes at the high school






In order for a student to be eligible to take Honors Algebra I in grade 9 they must have an A for each term of math in grade 8 and their math teacher's recommendation.

Attention girs who love math!

WPI hosting Sonia Kovalevsky Day. The day's events will include fun and engaging math activities run by current WPI students, lunch and a keynote talk by a female mathematician. Be sure to register before March 27, 2020

In order for a student to enter the advanced track for math in grade 7 they must meet the criteria listed.

85% or higher on both Benchmarks

93% or higher average on assessments

95% or higher average for effort

95% or higher homework completion

85% or higher on the Algebra I placement test

at least one MCAS score of advanced
