Wed.: Read 20; Chapter 7 Review; Review Vocab (MONOCHROME DAY)

Thurs.: Read 20; Chapter 7 Assessment; Study for Spelling/Vocab. Quizzes (THROWBACK THURS.)

Fri.: No HW  (CITY FLAG COLORS (PORTLAND, OR) )

Spelling: Students will have weekly individualized lists - Words Their Way lists will be in their binders once we have assessed and begun spelling!  While we will work with the words in class, a typical week will include 2 nights of spelling review (5-10 mins), and we will do quizzes each Friday. 

Vocabulary: ("Number the Stars", Chapters 9 +10): poised, deftly, hearse, hearse, mourning, staccato, typhus, condescending, urgency, strode, reluctantly

On Fridays we will do a vocabulary check for the week's words. Vocabulary lists are generated from the week's reading material; typically either a Wonders story, or from a novel. 

*Reading: for independent home reading, students may use books, magazines, articles, etc. ; anything that will provided them with the chance build their stamina by doing extended, focused reading of word-rich text. We start by asking for 10 minutes of focus, and expect to steadily build up their stamina as the trimester continues.
