If you are interested in being a Tiger TV Newscaster, you must audition on Friday, October 26, 2018, before school. Report to room A-13 at 8:00 am.
What is the Audition like?
Students will be auditioning two newscasters at a time (just like a real show) in our Tiger TV Studio. When you arrive for the audition, you will be paired at random with another student. When your turn to audition arrives, you will sit at the main news desk with your partner and read the news from the teleprompter directly in front of you.
The words on the teleprompter are color coded, so you and your partner will take turns reading the news, each of you reading a different color text (blue or green). See the audition script at the bottom of this web page.
When you finish your audition, you report to the cafeteria to wait for the homeroom bell.
What will I be judged on?
Your broadcast will be judged by a panel of staff members on the following:
● clarity of voice (annunciate each word)
● volume of voice (loud enough to be picked up by the microphone)
● body language and gestures (appropriate to the story)
● grooming and dress (look professional)
● smoothness of delivery (make sure you rehearse)
● ability to follow directions
● respect for fellow broadcasters, advisers, and all Tiger TV crew members
How will I know if I am chosen for the Tiger TV Team?
On Friday,October 26th, we will post the last four digits of your phone number of the newscasters who make our team on the door of A-16 (Tiger TV Studio). If you are chosen for our team, report to your first real newscast the following Friday, November 2nd in room A-13 at 8am.
What if I want to be part of the Tech Crew instead of a newscaster?
If you are interested in being part of the Tiger TV Tech Crew, you must audition on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, before school. Report to room A13 at 8:00 am. You will be given an interview and a technical task to perform to test your problem solving ability.
To be a Newscaster, you must be able to get to school by 8 am on Fridays. If you are involved with the morning music program on Fridays, or if you have any other zero period commitment, you cannot be a Tiger TV Newscaster or Tech Crew member.
