This website is continually evolving and we hope it will prove a useful resource in supporting your home learning during these unusual times.

Our intention is to challenge and enrich children's experiences in mathematics; while at the same time, demonstrating the relevance of the subject in everyday life.

We will achieve this by deepening children's understanding of the various mathematical concepts appropriate to their age group. Consequently, there is little to be gained by using this site to expose and teach objectives from older year groups. Indeed, this could adversely affect a child's engagement and enjoyment of maths as well as cause difficulties further along in their learning.

Mathematics is not solely about retaining and knowing number facts - although this is extremely important and useful. Having a good grasp of mathematics enables someone to look at a problem from a different perspective and encourages a willingness to try numerous different approaches - accepting some will fail - in an attempt to solve the problem.

The aim is that this website will go some way in developing this approach to mathematics in children.
