NBE School Counseling

Meet your counselor

Hello! My name is Celsey Kelley and I am your elementary school counselor. I received my B.A. in psychology back in 2018 and graduated with my M.S. in school counseling in May of 2023. I started in the fall of 2023 here at North Butler. This is my 2nd year as a school counselor and I have loved getting to know the students, staff, and developing my own counseling program. As a counselor, my goal is to be a steadfast support to all students, but especially those who may need a little more support from time-to-time. I am an avid pickleball player, lover of piano and music, and when I finally do have a chance to relax, I love spending time with my husband and our 1-year-old corgi, Poppy.

What does a school counselor do?

School counselors meet with students in large group settings, small groups, and individually to work on important skills impacting their social/personal/academic growth inside and outside of school. School counselors operate under a specific framework, including: Define, Assess, Manage, and Deliver.

Mission Statement

My personal mission is to provide a comprehensive counseling program where students will be knowledgeable about factors that influence their mental health and ways that they can combat these challenges through coping skills, resources, and a positive support system. They will feel ready and confident that when they go into society they have a background that has helped prepare them for success. They will develop compassion for others and improve their sense of self-worth.

What type of lessons will my students be learning?

School counselors have standards based around 3 domains: social/emotional learning, academic success, and career readiness. At the elementary, I like to create lessons a bit more intensly around SEL learning and academic success. We will learn about coping skills, peaceful problem solving, and how to be a good friend (to name a few)!
