Main Idea & Key Details

The main topic of an informational text is what the text is mostly about. Authors use key details to tell more about the main topic. These details can be found in the words and illustrations or photographs of the text.

In the story, we can identify the main topic of a text and use the key details to understand more information about it. Many times, the main topic of a text is in the title or on the first page of the text. The title is Places in My Neighborhood.

The story says, " A neighborhood is a community filled with different places to see." The main topic is "places in the neighborhood." Let's write that in the main topic. What details from the story help support that?
