Welcome to 5B!
Subjects: Science and Social Studies
Hello! My name is Archana Janardhanan and I teach fifth grade at Bradford Woods Elementary School. This will be my fifth year teaching fifth grade at BWE. Prior to BWE, I taught fifth grade for a year at Hosack Elementary School. I received my B.A. from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I received my M.A. in Elementary Education from Duquesne University.
I love to dance more than anything and I believe it helps people, and especially kids, open up and express themselves. I am a seasoned traveller and I use my travels to inform my teaching which, I believe, broadens my students' perspectives and learning experiences. I also love to cook, listen to audiobooks, and try new restaurants!
I am a mother to the most darling Cavachon, Violet Pepper, and I am an aunt to my niece, Chiara, and nephew, Akhil, who are the lights of my life.
There are so many reasons why I love teaching, but one of them is that I get to help students discover their strengths and encourage them to seek out challenges without being afraid. I believe this mindset fosters growth in the classroom, which is the most satisfying thing for a teacher to observe.
I am thrilled to embark on this new school year with my colleagues, Mr. Turner and Mrs. Ruffennach. I am also delighted to work with my students. Here's to a fantastic year!
