thank you for an outstanding year mcknight!
Another school year is in the books at McKnight Elementary!! For many it seemed to be a fast year and for others it was probably slow, but regardless, it was a fantastic year!! We want to take a moment to thank the volunteers, staff and community!
For the second part of the year, we would like to thank the following committees: Art/Curriculum Preparation, Basket Night, Dr. Seuss Day, Family Fun Bingo, Family Picnic, Father/Daughter Dance, Field Day, Fifth Grade Picnic, McKnight's Got Talent, Mother/Son X Games, Sarris Fundraiser, Science Night, Summer Bridge Workbooks, TAG, and Yearbook.
We would also like to thank the McKnight Staff. From calling Bingo to moving baskets, from helping with the Talent Show, to offering your own "Gift of Time", from helping students to helping parents, you do it all with a smile on your face and kindness in your heart. Thank you because there is no school like McKnight thanks to you!
Thank you MCK community for coming together to make all events special! It would not happen without the helping hands pitching in and supporting PFA activities/events. The PFA will be able to continue offering these opportunities to the students and staff of McKnight because of your generosity!
We wish you all a fabulous summer!
MCK Family picnic - help needed
We need desserts to make the Cake Walk* happen! We are also looking for volunteers to help, before, during, and after the event. If you can help donate desserts or time, please sign up!
come join the fun - everyone is invited
The McKnight Family Picnic will be Monday, June 3rd from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at North Park Lodge located on North Ridge Road. Please join all your friends and their families for a fun night of inflatables, dancing, face painting, snacks, the Cake Walk* and more!
Save yourself from getting a ticket by parking on the side of the road and not in the grass!
*Numbered squares are laid out on the floor. Students walk around until the music stops. A number is pulled and whoever is standing on the number gets to pick a dessert. Several rounds are played for each grade level.
field day details
Field Day is less than a week away and we are so excited! Please take a moment to read through the PDF linked below for all the important info. Psst... Even if you are a Field Day veteran, please take a moment to read. Construction has resulted in some changes to our typical Field Day schedule.
education partnership $1 sunglasses day
The last Education Partnership Day for this year will be held on Monday, June 3rd. Bring $1 to benefit the Education Partnership and wear your sunglasses. Thank you for all of your help this year in making this project a success!
lost and found items
The Lost and Found racks and bins are overflowing! Please take a moment to check your closets. Is your student missing something from their wardrobe? With the warm weather now upon us, your student may have left a coat or other item at McKnight and not even realize it. You have until June 6th to claim any items that may belong to you. When Summer Break arrives, all remaining items in the Lost & Found will be donated. (Labeling any articles of outerwear with your student's name helps to control item loss.)

marker recycling - crayola colorcycle program
McKnight is partnering up with Crayola to reduce the amount of plastic in our landfills. We are going to be collecting dead markers (of any brand, highlighters and dry erase too!) and sending them to Crayola for re-purposing. There was a double-sided flyer sent home with your child that has more information and can also be decorated and glued onto a tissue box to serve as your at-home collection bin. We will be installing a large collection box in the McKnight lobby before the end of this year. We encourage you to collect your markers all summer and drop them off in the Fall. The big box in the lobby will have a running tally of how many markers get collected and sent away. We are excited to participate in this wonderful program and hope you are too!
