Tardy to School

Please remember when your child is tardy to school a note is required to be sent by the parent or guardian explaining the tardy. The handbook indicates there are only three reasons why students can be excused when late to school:

  • 1. Severe weather conditions
  • 2. Bus transportation difficulties
  • 3. Personal accident or illness

All other tardy reasons are marked as illegal.

Summer Book Swap Donations Needed

Are you doing a little Spring cleaning and aren’t sure what to do with all those books your kids have outgrown or read so many times they know them by heart? Please consider donating them to the Ingomar Elementary Library for our 2nd Annual Summer Book Swap. Donations will be collected and organized by reading levels so that students can “shop” for a free book before they start their summer vacation. We would love to send every student home with a “new” book to cherish! Mrs. Smokovich will be collecting the donations through Friday, May 25th. In the event that we do not collect enough books for every student, all donations will be held for student distribution the following year. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Smokovich at lsmokovich@northallegheny.org. Thank you so much for your support!!

Lost & Found

The IES Lost and Found is overflowing! Please consider asking your students to take a look and see if they can uncover one of their lost treasures -or stop in yourself and take a look. On the last day of school, June 6th - all items will be removed and donated. Thank you!

Drop Off

Drop-Off at IES

This year, we have tried a new drop-off system. We have had very good feedback, and we will continue the process. Students in grades K-2 get dropped off in the side lot by the kindergarten small playground. We are aware if you have multiple children, you may have older students being dropped off as well. We have opened the gate by the small fenced in kindergarten playground to allow students to enter through the side door. There is an adult monitoring the door to provide a safe drop-off. In order to be timely and safe during drop-off, please do the following:

  1. Please pull all the way up to the gate in order to allow cars to move quickly through the line. It is keeping traffic moving on W. Ingomar Road and Bellcrest.
  2. Please stay in your car.
  3. All students will exit the vehicle and enter through the kindergarten playground gate. Students should access the main doors only if the kindergarten gate is closed.
  4. Please do not drive around vehicles for safety reasons.

We appreciate the flexibility in making this work. We continue to monitor and adjust allowing students to enter school safely and quickly. We also want traffic on the main road to flow.
