Academic Games

Have you ever watched Jeopardy or High-Q and thought that you would enjoy playing? If so, this club is for you! During our Academic Games club we will learn the format and rules of the National Academic League (NAL), form teams, and compete with each other. NAL competitions are fast-paced, fun, and challenging with four different games in each competition.

Chess Club

Do you enjoy running the gambit and being King or Queen for a day? Does your competitive spirit bring you joy when you make another a pawn in your game? If so, “check” your schedule “mate, and join After School Chess Club with Dr. Harding. It’s a chance to hang out with friends, sharpen your skills, and compete against many different opponents. Spaces and boards are limited, so sign up today!

Games Club

If you like to play games, you can be part of this club. It can be anything from Dungeons and Dragons, Magic the Gathering, checkers, Monopoly, or your choice. Use our games or bring your own.

Math Counts

A math competition series that builds confidence and improves attitudes about math and problem solving. During our meetings we will do problem solving and math challenges.

Students who wish to compete in the regional competition will also complete the school competition during this time to qualify for it. Meets in Room 215 during activity period

IMS Voices

Select, audition-based choral ensemble for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade music students. Meets before school and performs extra, more challenging music learned at a faster pace.

Photography Club

Interested in helping contribute to the IMS Yearbook? Then Photography Club is for you!

Take, edit, and compile photos to be used for a piece of IMS history while expanding your digital editing skills. Be a part of the action

Science Bowl

Science Bowl is a Nationwide Academic Competition that tests students in all areas of science and math. Teams of 5 face off in a fast paced Q&A format and advance to national competition if they win the regional event.

March 4 (Saturday) is the regional Science Bowl competition, all day.

Speech & Debate

Students can learn about and gain practice in a variety of speech and debate events. Students will have an option to compete in multiple competitions throughout the year, including a North Allegheny middle school competition in April.

Stage Crew

IMS has many events in our auditorium throughout the school year. Be a part of our stage crew team and you will help to run the lights and sound for those events.

Stage crew will meet after school and will also attend occasional after school events.

Steel City Coding

There is no doubt that programming is an invaluable skill today, as nearly 2/3rds of projected new jobs in STEM are computing-related. The Ingomar Middle School Chapter of Steel City Codes is a great way to learn computer science! No prior programming experience is needed, and you will have the opportunity to learn and challenge yourself through programming exercises and various review games.

Stem & Buds

The program consists of twelve, hour-long sessions, and pairs students with high school mentors to brainstorm, develop, and create projects using STEM for social good. In the first three sessions, students explore 6 branches of science, and from then on, each student will be able to decide what problem interests them the most and how they would like to tackle it. At the end of the year, there will be a regional fair for students from all chapters in the region to present their projects and learn from each other

6th grade students will attend music rehearsals on Thursdays and clubs on Wednesdays

Art Club

Variety of art projects and mediums for those student who enjoy art and being creative: Batik, tie-dye, sculpture, crafts, etc.

Challenge 24

Calling all Mathletes! If you like math, enjoy a challenge, and have quick mental math skills, then the Challenge 24 Tournament is for you! Challenge 24 is a math game where you will compete to make the number 24 using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Relax and color color (or draw/doodle). Bring your own coloring supplies. Coloring books, crayons, markers, etc. will not be provided

Holidays for the Troops

Help make the holidays special for our troops overseas. You will be making cards for them, organizing an "essentials" collection at IMS, making posters for the building and classroom, reaching out to organizations for donations, and organize the collection for the troops.

Disney Club

Disney Club will be an opportunity for kids to participate in a variety of activities related to Disney. We will participate in trivia challenges, listen to songs, watch movies, etc. If you love Disney, this is the club for you!

Green Team

Green Team is the club that takes care of the IMS school garden and works on schoolyard habitat projects. If you like to be outside, get your hands dirty, grow fruits, vegetables or flowers, and take care of the Earth... then this is the club for you! Most of our work is in the Fall and Spring, with a break during Winter. Come join us, and GO GREEN!

Leadership Club

Lead4Chage is a leadership club with the opportunity to plan and execute a community service activity. We will follow the Lead4Change curriculum which will help you become a better leader! This club is perfect for anyone that wants to improve their leadership skills, enjoys working collaboratively with their peers, and enjoys helping the community. Each week we will work on different activities that will develop, understand, and apply your leadership skills.

Library Helpers

Library Helpers will help set up displays and decorate the library, deliver stuff to classrooms, promote the books and resources in the library, and weight in on what should stay or go! You may even get to cover a book or two.

Film Club

Do you enjoy writing and directing movies? Do you like acting in short films? This might be the club for you! Join the IMS Film Club and work on creating original, one of a kind short films that will be written, filmed, and edited before being shared with other club members.

Helping Others, Providing Empathy. Students will have the opportunity to share affirmations and kindness with students and staff at IMS. We will surprise staff and faculty with notes of thanks, and we will also discuss volunteer opportunities. Students in this club will basically help to make the world a better place!

Kids for Wish Kids

The Kids For Wish Kids program engages students, schools and youth organizations in philanthropy and service activities in partnership with Make-A-Wish. The program encourages community service, leadership, volunteerism and teamwork.

Pick Up Sports Club

We will play football, soccer, kickball, wiffle ball, cornhole, and frisbee. Whatever game that you feel like playing that day is the one you can choose.

Ping Pong Club

Do you think you are the best table tennis player at Ingomar Middle? Join the table tennis club and compete against other Ingomar students and staff. If you are interested but have no experience, you can sign-up and learn how to play. Games can be competitive or recreational so all playing levels are welcome!

Puzzles Club

This club is for all the puzzle lovers out there - logic, crossword, jigsaw, sudoku,brainteasers...Challenge yourself to solve the puzzles here or bring your own!

Recycling Club

Help keep the school neat and clean by helping to empty the recycling bins each week. We need 4 groups of 3 people to go from classroom to classroom and empty the paper and plastic bottles into large bins. They will then be taken to the outside recycling dumpster and unloaded. You will get some exercise while making our classrooms look good!

Scrabble Club

Who will be the SCRABBLE champion? Join me in room 207 for weekly SCRABBLE games.

Everyone will compete in a bracket style tournament to determine an IMS SCRABBLE champion.

TSA is a national organization where middle and high school students across the country have the opportunity to compete against other kids their age in a variety of events. TSA takes the study of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) beyond the classroom and gives students the chance to pursue academic challenges among friends with similar goals and interests.

Tech Ed Room

Tying Tigers

We will use feathers, fur, thread, vises, bobbins, and thread to create fishable fly patterns. Each week, we will focus on different patterns such as dries, nymphs, streamers, and wet flies. Stock up your fishing fly box during the Tying Tigers Club!

Weight Training/Fitness

Strength Training builds muscle and overall fitness for sports and life activities, but did you know that it contributes to bone strength and mental health? During Strength Training club, we will work with machines in the weight room, free weights, and our own body weight. Our focus will be on learning and practicing safe and correct form, developing a repertoire of exercises, and developing routines for overall strength.
