Taegan Matthews and Peyton Doyle, two of our senior volleyball players, were selected to participate in this game. Our Aggie girls played with a team consisting of a variety of players from schools like South Shore, Bristol, Southeastern, and Dimon coached by South Shore and Tri-County. Their team won two games and lost two. Both girls said it was a lot of fun and a great experience—they represented the Aggie well. This was the last time Taegan and Peyton will wear their Aggie uniforms and were able to end their journey with a new and exciting experience. Congratulations girls!

Thanks to everyone who supported Aggie Volleyball this school year!” Fantastic season girls!!!
Sports Banquet
⇛ On Tuesday, an in-person varsity sports banquet was finally brought back! This was a great opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication of the Aggie’s student-athletes. The sports banquet was held in the gymnasium and approximately 65 students were in attendance. Opening remarks were made by the principal, Ms. VanRotz, and the athletic director, Mr. Rotigliano. Then, the coaches took the stage one at a time to deliver a season recap as well as present awards to 3 individuals on each team. At the end of the night, two very special awards were given out to 4 athletes. The Wall of Fame is awarded to a senior who demonstrates great character throughout their career at Norfolk Aggie. This is a career award based on athletic pursuit and consideration is given to scholarship and citizenship. Past nominees have included “unsung heroes”, managers, all-around athletes, athletes who played through and beyond disabilities, and athletics deserving special recognition. The Director’s Sportsmanship is awarded to a senior who, through athletic pursuit and good sportsmanship, represents the true spirit of a Norfolk Aggie Athlete. This is the highest award given to an Athlete at our school and is traditionally presented at the Banquet by the Director, although this year, it was presented by the principal. Due to COVID, there was no banquet last year so the recipients for 2021 and 2022 are:

Varsity Boys Basketball
Congratulations to Coach Collins and the Boys Varsity Basketball Team for finishing the year strong, and ending the season with an 8-12 record. Although the record may not reflect significant accomplishment, this year’s team won seven more games in ‘21-‘22, than during the ‘19-‘20’ season — the last season in which interscholastic competition was held. It was a long season with many challenges, including long bus rides and late nights, rescheduled games due to the pandemic and inclement weather, and countless practices at Fore Kicks. Nonetheless, the players competed to the best of their abilities, attended practices and games, and kept a positive attitude. They also had a lot of fun! Most importantly, they carried themselves with maturity and showed respect for the other team in the heat of competition. This year’s team definitely followed the lead of Coach Collins, who — somehow, someway — always balanced having fun, working hard, providing constructive criticism, and acknowledging the accomplishments of all players and coaches. His hard work, commitment to the program, and knowledge of the game were exemplified from day 1 of practice. I would also like to shout out Coach Burns for helping out during practices and games and Dan Quinn who flawlessly operated the scoreboard and scorers table throughout the season! And finally, thank you to Mr. Rotigliano, for his relentless scheduling of makeup games, the late bus, and practices. If you see the following players around campus next week, please extend to them your congratulations: Jack Collins, Aidan McDonagh, Adlin Dely, Toby Maziarz, Nick Alizio, Evan McClellan, Ryan Casali, Hayden Hurley, Sam Trudell, Nolan Doyle, Jack Willard, Jake Colantuoni, Patrick Podzka, Matt Gamble and Ryan Foley! ~Coach Cohen
Junior Varsity Girls Basketball
The JV girls basketball team finished the season with an impressive 9 - 5 record. While the beginning of the season was a bit rough, our JV squad successfully completed their revenge tour as they defeated every team that beat them earlier on! Their hard work and dedication to the program paid off and the improvement was incredible to see! Shout out to Lisa Cardello, Cayla Joyce, Meghan Abbot, Marlaina Poillucci, Lauren Barry, Brenda Murphy, Maggie Shepherd, Alexia Almeida, Miru Kunst, and Jathai Sanchez for a great season! And a bonus shout out to our Varsity swing players, Leighanna MacDonald, Savina Moschella, Lindsay Matheson, Madelyn Germain, and Emma Jacobs, who helped keep us going! Great job all around! ~Coach T

Coach Cohen also shared that this team’s strengths were their 3-point shooting and their improved competitiveness. Coach Cohen said this was the most improved team he has ever coached! Congratulations to the boys and Coach Cohen on a great season!
