We resolve to adopt the three changes to the NR bylaws proposed below:
Current:
Club directors are reimbursed 50% of the cost of any NRSC programs or events, to a maximum of $200 per year. Note that purchases of any hard goods such as clothing or equipment do not qualify for this 50% reimbursement.
Proposed:
Club directors are reimbursed 50% of the cost of any NRSC programs or events, to a maximum of $250 per year. Note that purchases of any hard goods such as clothing or equipment do not qualify for this 50% reimbursement.
Rationale:
The $200 maximum was set at the AGM in 2019. This change is intended to account for inflation over the past 6 years and give directors the equivalent benefit they had in 2019.
Current:
None - Our current bylaws do not allow the executive to reward exemplary members with lifetime membership, although this was done in the past.
Proposed:
The board may at any time, by majority vote, grant a lifetime NRSC membership to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the club. A lifetime member does not have to pay the annual membership fee, but does have to pay any fees or charges for NRSC programs, events or activities, such as those for ski classes, social events, and accommodation at Silver Star. Any club member may submit a written proposal to the board to consider an individual for lifetime membership.
Rationale:
Some people give generously of their time and effort to support the club and its members. Lifetime membership is a great way to recognize and reward these people and encourages them to remain with the club.
Current:
Coaches who are members of the club receive the following benefits:
Reimbursement of coaches’ annual CANSI membership fee, as long as they coached for the NRSC for at least 8 hours that year
If approved by the executive in advance, refunding of 50% of the cost of successfully completing a CANSI or NCCP course after one season of coaching for NRSC (minimum 8 hours) and the remaining 50% of the cost after a second season of coaching for the NRSC (minimum 8 hours)
Proposed:
Coaches who are members of the club receive the following benefits:
Reimbursement of coaches’ annual CANSI membership fee, as long as they coached for the NRSC or shadowed an NRSC coach for at least 8 hours that year
If approved by the executive in advance, refunding of 50% of the cost of successfully completing a CANSI or NCCP course after one season of coaching for NRSC (minimum 8 hours) and the remaining 50% of the cost after a second season of coaching for the NRSC (minimum 8 hours). Note that shadowing another coach does not count as coaching for course reimbursement.
Rationale:
The change will encourage the development of CANSI members in the club by reimbursing their CANSI annual membership fees for shadowing another coach, as well as for actually coaching.
