Arcata High School invites the public to their Holiday Artisan Faire, Friday, Nov. 30 from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. A variety of hand made, one of a kind items will be for sale including evergreen holiday wreaths made by FFA, laser engraved items made in our Maker Space, wood working and blacksmith items, art, photography, stickers and buttons made by Arcata Arts Institute students. Dinner will be available for purchase from the AHS Culinary program. A photography show organized by the Foreign Language Department will also be featured. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Superintendent Rodger Macdonald and Principal Dave Navarre joined Counselors Kathi Olesen, Deena Faull, Emily Silveira and Darcy Robins in celebrating Arcata High's Rochester Award winners: Olivia Gerving, Nigella Baur, Angelica Meade and Andrew Pedicino.

Olivia Gerving won the Bausch + Lomb Honorary Science Award for

  • High achievement and rigor in science classes
  • High PSAT Math and/or SAT Math scores
  • Positive contributions to their school and within the larger community

Nigella Baur won the Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award for

  • Demonstrated commitment to understanding and addressing difficult social issues
  • Leadership and dedication to community action
  • Strong grades and rigorous courses taken in the humanities and social sciences

Angelica Meade won the George Eastman Young Leaders Award for

  • Strong leadership experience at school and in the community
  • High grades and challenging courses
  • Extensive involvement in extracurricular activities

Andrew Pedicino won the Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology for

  • Strong interest in innovation and/or information technology and a high level of achievement.
