Virtual Open House
We are so excited for the 2021-2022 school year! Our Kiln Creek staff has been waiting patiently for our Kangas to return to school for some time now. Newport News Public Schools will be hosting the Open House for the 2021-2022 school year virtually this school year. On this website, you will be able to find welcome messages from all teachers and other important information for the first day of school on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.
Additionally, all teachers will be hosting a virtual class session on September 2, 2021, from 6:30-7:00 as a way to reach families via Zoom. Families will receive the Zoom link via a teacher email by Wednesday, September 1, 2021.
Our Kindergarten Families WILL BE able to come to Kiln Creek Elementary School on the afternoon of Thursday, September 2, 2021, to meet and visit with the Kindergarten classroom teachers in our school's library. Due to our ongoing HVAC project, the classrooms will not be ready for a visit, but we wanted to give all our new Kangas a chance to come to school and visit with their teachers for a short time. Kindergarten families will be contacted by email and phone call to share the exact time for the visit by their classroom teacher.
At this time Kiln Creek Elementary School visitors will not be permitted to visit classrooms or eat lunch with students. All families will be informed and provided an updated set of expectations and procedures to visit the school when this procedure is revised based on health and safety information.
