Do you like exciting rides? Are you interested in eating fish? Do you enjoy playing impossible carnival games? If so, then the Fish-Fry is the perfect place for you. It is a carnival that comes to Costa Mesa once a year, and they bring a variety of rides and games. At the Fish-Fry they also have bands that perform on stage.

The people who started the Fish-Fry were a group called The Lion’s Club. The Lion’s Club is a group that people can join, so that they can spend their time helping and improving their communities. They usually donate all of the money that they make from their fundraisers to charities. This year’s Fish-Fry will be donating the money that they make to local schools, clubs, and other organizations.

For the past seven years the Fish-Fry has been at Fairview park, but this year the Lion’s Club is having the 75th annual Fish-Fry at Lion's Park June 3rd-5th. The Fish-Fry started in 1946 when the Lion’s Club wanted to have a fundraiser, but they couldn’t decide what to do. Someone named Bob Skiles suggested that they should have a Fish-Fry.

The money that they earned from the first Fish-Fry was used to build the baseball field next to Lion’s Park. At the first Fish-Fry a stove and a refrigerator were the prizes, but now the prizes are just plushies and toys. I hope to see you at the Fish-Fry!

Are you guys ready for the OC Fair? The OC fair will be open from July 15- August 14. Tickets for the OC fair are already up for sale on the OC fair website, you can also buy the tickets at the window before you enter the fair.

The OC Fair first opened in 1890. The 32nd district agricultural association is the owner of the OC fair. Besides all the fun rides and food you can get, the OC fair also holds concerts for the people who want to see artists play music live. They have a variety of music choices to listen to. Some of the types of music at the OC Fair are Pacific Amphitheater and The Hanger.

If you aren't interested in the music, there are also a lot of rides to choose from. Jaxon Steck and Sawyer Atkinson favorite rides at the OC Fair were, they said, “We both love Titan.” Titan is a ride which swings you up and then slowly drops you back down and it repeats. Even if you have kids on the younger side there is a part of the fair with smaller rides that your younger kids won't be that afraid of.

If you are looking for something other than rides or music the fair has some really good food. We asked one of TeWinkle teachers Ms. Delgado said her favorite food was from the OC Fair and she said, “I really like deep fried oreos.” Delayla Perez said, “I like to eat funnel cakes and hot dogs.”

So if you don't know what food to start off with you can keep in mind the teacher and students' preferences.
