Events may occur at school that require parents to pick up their students in a controlled release. This process is called reunification and may be necessary due to inclement weather, a power outage, a hazmat issue, or a crisis at the school.
The North Marion School District, in collaboration with regional and local agencies, has implemented the Standard Reunification Method based on protocols established by the I Love U Guys Foundation.
Student and parent reunification is a protocol that makes this process more predictable and less chaotic for all involved. Because a controlled release is not a typical end-of-school-day event, reunification may occur at a different campus school or an alternative location other than our campus facility. The reunification location will be communicated to staff and parents on the day of the event.
Notification of a Student and Parent Reunification
Staff and parents may be notified in a number of ways (phone, email, text, website). The school or district may also use our messaging platform, called ParentSquare.
Below is information regarding the SRP Standard Reunification Method. This gives a general idea of what it may look like in the event of implementing reunification.
