Welcome! I am Brigetta Starks, the lead teacher of Team ROARRIORS and your social studies teacher this year! I am so excited and happy to get to know all of you! I've spent the last 21 years teaching in the North Little Rock School District. The first 17 were spent at my beloved Indian Hills Elementary, where I taught 3rd grade for 2 years and then 5th grade, my baby for 15 years. I am starting my 22nd year with you all, which will mark my 5th year as a 6th grade teacher. I began my tenure at 6th grade as a math teacher, one of my most favorite subjects, and then moved to my current and other most favorite subject, social studies, January of 2020. I graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and achieved my initial National Board Certification in 2007 and then recertification in 2017. Billy is the lucky man who gets to call me wife (haha), and together we have a grown up baby boy, Braden, who would not be amused to be referred to in this way (haha again). Rounding out our family are 3 precious pooches: Nala and Piper, a blond and a black lab, respectively, and Heidi, a silver-pawed, black German Shepherd. I enjoy reading, being outside, working out, THE BEACH, dark chocolate, any flaming hot chip, and SUNSHINE!!! I am excited for a fantastic year, learning and growing together! Again, WELCOME!!!
