We're kicking off June with a Pride Spirit week and some awesome activities during lunch time throughout the week!

One of our Pride Week Activities was repainting our rainbow crosswalk! Thank you so much to Ms. Hewitt, Ms. Benoit, Brielle Campbell, Bridgette Critch, Emily Pilgrim, and Hailey Hoyles for staying after school on Thursday and repainting the sidewalk. Your time and energy are so appreciated at XJH!
Another Pride week activity we had at XJH was bracelet making. Students got to make some lovely bracelets in Ms.Hewitt's classroom during lunch one day.
Congratulations to all participants of the Lion's Club Speak off. We had 8 participants from grades 6-9. We would like to say a big congratulations to our winners:

Another big thank you to the Grade 8 & 7 Girls for helping Ms. Hewitt get the library ready for next year! They've been a big help scrapping paint from windows, putting together furniture and organizing books. Thank you everyone!

Spirit Day was a huge success! Thank you so much to Ms. Penney for organizing and putting together such an awesome event!
Students took part in different activities from Mario Kart to Ping Pong to Chess to Volleyball to win points for their teams. It was a tough race to 2:30, but we had a clear winning team in the end! Congrats to Team White! We can't wait to make this a yearly tradition with more House Team Activities Next Year!

Thank you so much to all the Grade 8s and 7s who have been helping with painting the benches and tables from Elwood High and DN Carpentry. They are looking so bright and colourful and we can't wait to have them set up for our outdoor classroom!
XJH students/staff took part in the pride walk on June 23rd! We walked with Elwood Elementary and Elwood Regional High School.
On June 24th, 2026 Students at Xavier Junior High took part in an Indigenous Day Celebration.
We started off with a presentation from Chief Bryon Alexander before lunch. He showcased the value of living off the land and being more aware of Mother Earth.
In the afternoon, we had a ceremony featuring teachings, tellings, and performances from the community. Thank you so much for our student volunteer speakers who emceed our ceremony. Thank you again to Chief Byron Alexander, The Corner Brook Aboriginal Women's Association, Jessi Martin of Qalipu First Nation and Roger Targett for presenting at XJH.
