At the end of this lesson, you will be able to navigate the preview page and set your preferred background to your video.
When you enter a Meet, you will come to this screen - the preview room. Here you will be able to adjust your mic and camera to the appropriate settings (on/off) for the purposes of your Meet.
To turn on/off your Mic and Camera, before entering the call, simply click on the red circle buttons with the mic and camera icons at the bottom middle of your video feed.
When you're ready to join the call, click on the blue Join now button.
To ensure your audio (mic) and video (camera) are working before entering the call, click on "Check your audio and video" at the bottom right of the screen. You will turn on your camera and speak into your mic to get a preview of what you will sound/look like in a call.
You will also be able to customize the background to your video feed, if you are joining the Meet with your camera turned on. This is a privacy feature and will help hide whatever is behind you. You can choose to blur your background or choose a background image from a bank of backgrounds provided by Google. Students also have the choice to choose from the bank of pre-determined backgrounds.
To access the background blur function and the bank of pre-determined backgrounds, click on the button with the icon of a sparkle in the bottom right of your video feed. To select and test out a background, simply click on any of the choices in the background bank.
Now, use the steps you have learned to open a Meet , explore the preview page and set a background to your video.
