Safe Prom Update

Hi Everyone,

Just a update on what we discussed at the school on Wednesday night. We have things well on the way for a great night at Axtion. We have Fortune tellers, Caricatures artists, Magician, Photo booth and a Hypnotist booked for the event. We also will have food ie: pizza, fries, ice cream, donuts, drinks etc. Since the meeting we have had a chance to go have a quick look at the new Axtion facility and it is quite impressive!! It has 3 floors! It is so much bigger than the present location. There will be a lot more to do there, including a new snow tubing slide, a drop zone and the climbing area will be amazing...I can't wait to see it all unfold.

We have permission to sell 50/50 tickets at one of the Hockey Shield games to date. (may be extended to all three) Also we will be selling tickets on a Grad Basket as well. We would be looking for volunteers to help sell tickets at the Stadium. Dates would be Feb 19, 20, and/or 22. If you are interested please let us know.

Also we have been approved to do a "Luck of the Irish" 50/50 fundraiser for St. Patty's Day. It will not be as large as our Christmas Bonanza but will have a nice prize, maximum payout of $5000. Ticket cost will be $5 each with 2000 printed. This will be our last fundraiser.

On the night of the Safe Prom, we will require a large number of Chaperones since the new facility is so large. If anyone is interested please let us know so we can sign you up. You will be required to have Code of Conduct with Vulnerable Sector Check done for this event. The school can provide you with a letter so that you do not have to pay for these applications. Let us know if you are available so we can forward you the applications and we will add you name to the list for the letter from school to exempt you from cost. There was some question about the Conduct checks on Wednesday night. The applications are specifically for the school, so if you had one done for another company/organization, it’s not valid. You will still need to get one for QE. Also, I’m told the letters are only good for ONE year. Some of you may have had letters for last year but if the date is before Prom, you will need another.

The Parental Consent Forms and Axtion Forms will be available at the school during 12:30pm to 1:30 pm during student lunch hours starting Feb 5 on Mon, Wed and Fridays until due date Mar. 2. We will be collecting the completed forms and money at that time.

Please do not bring money or forms to the school office. You child can bring them to the school and we will issue receipts. Please make sure these are filled out correctly. If your child is bringing a guest to Axtion they will need to fill out the forms as well. The cost is $25 for your child to attend. The guest has to pay $25 as well. This will be the only amount you will have to pay for this event. Our fundraising efforts should pay for the rest.

Below I have detailed on where our fundraising monies will be going.


200 grads/guests x $40(Axtion cost to us) = $8,000 for Axtion Minus $5,000 that we collect from students/guests ($25 each) which means we need an additional $3,000 to pay Axtion

If anyone wishes to help with our fundraising efforts, by contacting businesses, for gift cards, money, supplies ie: drinks and snack foods etc, we have a letter that we can give you that explains who we are and why we are looking for donations. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
